Wall Décor to Inspire You Home Design

The walls of your home are the ultimate blank canvas just waiting for inspiration!

Whether your wall décor is the focal point of your space that you build your design around, or the finishing touch that pulls a room together, your wall adornments provide color, texture, and visual interest that gives your home design completion and helps tell a story about you and your space.

From an eclectic gallery wall to a 3-D art installation, sentimental photographs, or maybe even a mural, the possibilities are endless to what you can put on your walls.

In this month’s blog we are going to share 14 of our favorite wall décor designs and hopefully inspire you within your own home!

#1: 3-D ART

A 3-D piece of art is such a chic way to elevate your walls and add texture and depth to your space. This piece of art from our Elk View home has elements coming out from the wall at different lengths creating a texture that almost resembles a field of flowers. The placement of the art is also significant because of the shadows it creates which lends to that idea of creating depth on a flat wall.

#2: GALLERY WALL
You can never go wrong with a classic gallery wall! Whether it’s a manicured wall with matching frames, or something a little more eclectic, the gallery wall is a staple that is perfect for displaying art, photos, maps, or prints. The beauty if the gallery wall is that there are so many different forms it can take which really makes it versatile for any space.

#3: WALLPAPER

Wallpaper can also be used as a form of art on your wall! This children’s room from Elk View brings the wonderment of the Colorado landscape into this nursery design through the imagery of a bear in the forest. The bear acts as the focal point in on the wall, serving as the “art” in the space.

#4: MIRRORS

Mirrors are such a great way to add visual variety to your walls and they can actually help your space feel bigger! We recommend looking for mirrors with a unique frame to help play into the art vibe. These mirrors from our Olive project create beautiful visual balance on this wall and the geometric frame complements the lines of the surrounding molding.

#5: ITEMS FROM TRAVELS

We love to see homes that utilize items from travels into their wall décor. The cow skull in our Elk View guest room perfectly fits the Colorado ranch vibe of the space, while also giving a glimpse into the homeowners’ style and history of their travels.

Baskets and trinkets are another great addition to your wall décor as they add whimsy and unexpected charm to your space. This gallery wall from our Estes Park Ave project features multiple woven bowls and a ceramic balloon which enhance the surrounding art by adding visual variety and texture to the wall.

#8: MURAL

For larger commercial spaces, a mural is a great way to cover a large wall and convey imagery that represents a business or idea. This mural from our Lash Blvd. project is chic and modern and not only sets the tone for the space but also gives clients insight into the business and their branding.

Large photographs/prints are a unique and showstopping way to decorate your walls. The cow portraits in our Vail Road home show an amazing amount of detail and are the perfect addition to this rustic Colorado abode.

#10: UNIQUE PLACEMENT

Sometimes the creativity with your wall décor comes from how you choose to display it. The art pieces in the living room of our Sleepy Owlet project are purposely arranged on the mantle of the fireplace, rather than being hung on the wall. This design decision is subtle but the unexpected placement of art is visually interesting and contributes to the uniqueness of this space.
